| As czar, oh, the changes I would make!
Those folks aren't supposed to see themselves as celebrities and act bigger than the sport itself. That's right, Jeff Hammond and Allen Bestwick, you aren't as popular as you think you are. And I'm not sure where to start when it comes to Darrell Waltrip. How about this — retire "Boogity Boogity Boogity! Let's Go Racing Boys!" We've heard it for years now and I thoroughly believe we're all tired of it.n Enough already: It's time for the ever-annoying Michael Waltrip — the guy who has won only four races in 689 starts — to take a step back and be quiet for a while. Yes, we know NAPA sponsors his car. Yes, we know UPS sponsors a car he owns. And yes, we're all equally sick of the Aaron's Dream Machine and those hideous commercials with the Waltrip brothers. For God's sake, let Darrell drive the dang Dream Machine and move on!n Enough already II: We all know that race cars are sponsored, but let's tone it down a notch when thanking high-dollar backers.

I have a friend at work who is all ga-ga about Obama. I told him that McCain will win the election; he wasn't happy with this prediction. He mentioned the waves of delegates supporting Obama vs the paltry Rep show-ups. I told him it didn't matter--only one vote counts, and the deomgraphic that is atwitter with Obama tend to stay home and let someone else do the voting. He mentioned how Limbaugh and Coulter are dissing McCain. I told him this was a deliberate strategy to make McCain more attractive to the Bush-haters. He told me that the US economy is tanking, and people want a change. I told him that aside from the subprime fiasco, the US is doing pretty well. Besides, Obama has no plan yet; Dems tend to be protectionist, so he may become anti-NAFTA, which is bad for us.

Yum joins with U.N. to fight hunger
For a week, Yum! Brands Inc. dished out reminders of world hunger, and asked customers to ease the plight while satisfying their cravings for tacos, pizza and fried chicken. The Louisville-based parent of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC and other chains orchestrated a global effort to assist the U.N.'s World Food Programme in feeding the hungry. The campaign two months ago was the company's way of commemorating the 10th anniversary of its spinoff from PepsiCo. .
Edison parade: Stories from parade route
They came out early and were plenty. Hours before the start of the Edison Festival of Light Parade Saturday, downtown Fort Myers streets were filled with spectators awaiting its start. While many reserved their spots weeks to months in advance with yellow tape or lawn chairs, others, such as Judy Barr, didnt have to worry. This is a great spot, its away from the crowd but its right in the middle of it all, Barr said. Barr set up shop with her grand-daughter Jaime Crawford and her great- grand-daughter Taylor Hernandez on a 4- to 5-foot wall on the corner of Main Street and Monroe Street next to the Lee County Justice Center. This has been our spot for years, she said. The view isnt blocked, which is great for the grand-children, now the great-grandchildren.
